A new single standard for organisations in the Aged Care sector has been released, the Aged Care Quality Standards, which replaces the following four standards:

  • Accreditation Standards for residential care and short term restorative care delivered in a residential setting
  • Home Care Standards for home care, short term restorative care delivered in a home setting, and care delivered under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
  • National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program Quality Framework Standards for care delivered under the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program (NATSIFACP)
  • Transition Care Standards for flexible care providers delivering transition care.

All services within the Aged Care Sector will have to comply with the new Aged Care Quality Standards from July 2019. During this transition period, from now until 30 June 2019, the current Standards will be in place. Organisations during this period will need to gain an understanding of what the changes mean for their organisation and transition their systems and processes to align with the requirements of the Standards.

To assist our clients to implement the new Standards, we are currently developing a range of resources to identify what needs to be added or changed within their QMS to meet these new Standards.

If your LOGIQC QMS has the Accreditation Module activated, you will be able to use the Module to conduct a self-assessment and generate an action plan detailing what needs to be done to prepare your organisation to meet the Aged Care Quality Standards.
